    My finds to date.....

    Post  sal7373 on Tue Feb 21, 2012 2:25 am

Hi everyone, as I am new to this site I thought I would post my best finds so far.
I have only been fossil hunting a couple of years and am still learning about my finds!
I prep my own finds using an air pen or acetic acid, depending on the matrix.

    From Monmouth Beach Lyme Regis:

    Black Venn - Charmouth

    Burton Bradstock

    Aust

Seatown (mainly Seatown on shelf, some Hock Cliff)

And the rest....yet to be prepped or lurking in the shed not quite making the grade for the cabinet lol

Not many amazing discoveries so far lol but this lot have kept me busy,
Thank you for looking Very Happy

Excellent finds, you have the nucleus of a fine collection there. Have you been able to identify many?

Your preparation area looks remarkably clean Smile

Good luck in June - I had a stroll down the beach at Lyme once and picked up a few (very) small ammonites, but nothing Mary Anning would have got excited about ...

Thank you guys and gals. I do like having a shed to escape to every now and then, almost as relaxing as fossil hunting...lol xx

Kosmoceras I've only been hunting for a couple of years so I'm still learning, albeit slowly, about my finds.i rely on both forums for sources of info. Pete (Knochie) has been the font of all knowledge with regards to Aust and a brill guide (thanks Pete)....I only tend to label my finds if I'm confident about them lol Very Happy However most of what I have found now I have ID's for.
My workshop is normally mid prep so dust and bits everywhere...thought I'd better tidy it up for a photo lol!

If anyone is interested in arranging a date between 1st and 8th June for a fossil hunt in Lyme let me know Very Happy

Loving it all!! I need to get me to Aust at some point! Wish I had a place to prep my fossils though, at the moment it's the house's bath at uni (we're all palaeo students in our house so we all have stuff to prep) and my garden patio at home Razz Hopefully I can persuade my mum to move everything out of the shed at home lol geek

I'd love to go down to Lyme Regis, haven't been there (or anywhere along the Jurassic coast yet!), definitely a box that needs ticking, I'll see what I can do- I have a field trip until the 3rd or 4th of June though
