Beautiful! I don't have many pyrite ammos in my collection, they sure are nice finds! Have you coated them in PVA, Varnish or Paraloid to prevent them falling appart?

    Thanks Kosmos Smile

I have been experimenting with a few different mediums to protect them, after losing my prized Echioceras to the dreaded yellow rot of ammo doom.

Some I have used a diluted solution of paraloid, but a few have still showed signs of decay, I have started using a rust inhibitor called Owatrol oil, this I have also diluted and after a year all ammo's seem to be oxidization free! Apart from one which was oxidizing quite heavily when I found it.

Here is the sadly departed Echioceras, she was a beaut! Sad

Thats is a nice one. If you notice a good one going, you can always store it in oil. There is no oxygen there for it to decay.

Here is a selection of my most complete and interesting pyrite goodies.

Sorry about the large image size. If a problem, I'll reduce the size next time.
